Arizona Desert Riders About us The Arizona Desert Riders is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing charitable contributions to organizations which assist with the financial needs of disabled children's programs, equine tragedy matters, animal rescue, and other good causes. The club started with an initial membership of two people over 34 years ago, and has grown to nearly 100 members today. Most members are from the Valley of the Sun, including residents of Avondale, Cave Creek, Glendale, Goodyear, Laveen, Litchfield Park, New River, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Sun City West, Surprise, Tolleson, Waddell, and Wittmann. We have several members from the towns of Camp Verde, Chino Valley, Prescott and Sedona as well. Through the dedication of our membership the Arizona Desert Riders organizes several paid open-to-the-public rides per year to generate donation funds for the year. We also have quite a few "members and friends" rides throughout the year. The rides range from a few hours to a full day, and some can be 2-3 days. We have several annual events that draw riders from all over. The largest is our annual Wickenburg Ride. This event is organized as a four day overnight event with daily rides, culminating in participation in the annual Wickenburg Gold Rush Days Parade. The Desert Riders have participated in this parade for over 20 years. Weather permitting, every summer we spend a weekend at Mormon Lake, riding in the forest and playing arena games on Saturday afternoon. The Arizona Desert Riders trail rides are organized with an attempt to ride at historical trail sites and locations throughout the State. It is the goal of the members to provide beautiful, educational and entertaining trail events to its participants and for the safety and enjoyment of riders of all capabilities. To assist with this, the club provides access to rental horses for those who do not currently have their own horse or who are unable to transport their horse to the ride site. This allows a larger number of people to participate in our events, which are always priced affordably. We ride in many various locations to provide diversity for our riders. Some of the sites we have ridden in the past include Canyon De Chelly, Monument Valley, Empire Ranch (outside Tucson), Eagle Tail Mountain, Cave Creek Park, Tonto National Forest, Clints Wells, Mormon Lake, and Flagstaff to name a few. Visit through our website to check out our upcoming rides, and to see some of our photographs from various events we have organized.
